Bowlers compete in CL #1 and #2

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Grace's bowling team got its first taste of Crossroads League competition over the weekend.

The Lancers competed in Crossroads League #1 and #2, the first series of five conference tournaments this season.

Grace's men placed fifth out of seven squads in both events, and the women were sixth in the first and seventh in the second tourney.

CROSSROADS #1

The men finished fifth in a fierce battle in the opener. Grace's men collected 4,461 pins, one pin more than Goshen. They had a high score of 920 in team play and 203 in baker competition.

The men were led by Tom O'Neil (179.67 scoring average) and Nick Ransbottom (178.67), followed by Corbin Payne (172.33).

The women ended dead even with Mt. Vernon Nazarene for sixth place with 4,079 pins. Their highest team-score game was 797, and the top baker score was 211.

Kit Sprunger finished with the top women's average. She bowled 179-189-184 for a tournament average of 184.

Madison Coquillard finished second for the ladies with an average of 158, and Addison Jackson was next with 137.67.

CROSSROADS #2

Grace's women ended seventh out of eight squads in the final tournament of the weekend. They team amassed 4,393 pins with a high game of 812 in team games and 228 in baker play.

Madison Anderson led the ladies with an average score of 170.33. Coquillard was second with an average game of 161.67, and Sprunger was next in line at 144.33.

The men collected 5,032 pins to place fifth overall out of seven teams. They had a high score of 966 in team games and 222 in baker competition.

Payne finished just outside of the top-10 in the tournament, averaging 219.67 to place 11th.

Ransbottom was two places behind him with an average score of 216.67, and O'Neil was next at 174.67.




Next up, the Lancers will take on Crossroads League #3 on Jan. 24.
