SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A quartet from Grace's indoor track and field time made waves on Friday at Notre Dame.
The foursome of Bryan Hernandez-Rios, Tanner Sallee, Logan Rufenacht and Dimitri Margaritidis were invited to run the distance medley relay at ND's Meyo Invitational. The race was held at Loftus Sports Center, home to the largest NCAA indoor track in the country.
Grace's foursome placed second out of seven teams in a field containing six NCAA Div. I teams.
The Lancers' time of 9:49.19 was less than two seconds behind the winners from Indiana State but better than Cincinnati, Western Illinois, Chicago State and Illinois-Chicago.
Grace's time shattered a school record by 12 seconds. It's the fastest time in the NAIA by a wide margin; no other school has beat 10 minutes this season.
