WARSAW, Ind. - The sensational season for Grace's men's tennis squad continued with a 6-1 victory against Judson on Saturday.
The match, played indoors at the Warsaw Racquet Club, gave the Lancers their 20th victory of the season as they improved to 20-5.
Judson struck first on Saturday by taking the doubles' point. Javier Gallego and Pablo Gregori did manage to win 7-6 (7-5) at the top doubles' court, but the Lancers came up empty in the final two positions.
The Lancers asserted their dominance during singles' play, however. All six Lancers won their singles' matchups, including the top four courts in straight sets.
Gallego cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, and Gregori was even quicker at No. 3 (6-0, 6-2).
Facundo Paredes had little trouble at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory, and Ramiro Candia also rolled to a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4.
David Sandi found himself in a battle at No. 5; he recovered from a second-set defeat to win the tiebreaker (6-2, 2-6, 10-9).
Francisco Margaria had to bounce back from dropping the opening set to win narrowly at No. 6 singles (1-6, 6-4, 10-8).
The Lancers have one more spring match scheduled when they host Cornerstone on April 22. Grace will continue to focus on preparing for the NAIA National Championships in mid-May.
