WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis added another tally to the win column with a resounding 7-0 sweep of Saint Francis on Saturday afternoon at the Don Cramer Tennis Courts.
The Lancers jumped all over the Cougars from the very first point to extend their unbeaten streak to start the season.
Doubles play has been a point of emphasis for head coach
Andy Lewis. After struggling the previous two matches to get going, all three doubles pairings dominated to take the early 1-0 lead.
Pablo Gregori and
Artur Pons made good on their pairing to get the match started on the right foot. The duo won 6-1.
Javier Gallego and
Facundo Paredes followed with another 6-1 triumph to clinch the doubles point for the home team.
Francisco Margaria and
Luis Cordoba continued the win parade with a 6-2 scoreline at No. 3 doubles.
After taking the first point up for grabs, the Lancers turned to the singles slate to continue to pull away.
Gregori pushed Grace ahead by two with his 6-0, 6-1 rout at No. 3 singles. Paredes added to the lead with a 6-1, 6-2 showing to increase the lead.
Gallego dispatched his opponent 6-1, 6-4 to clinch the victory for the 17th-ranked squad.
Grace's depth was on display with the No. 4-6 spots all winning by a similar scoreline in quick fashion. Cordoba and Margaria each came out on top 6-1, 6-0 and
Artur Pons finished off the day 6-0, 6-1.
