SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Grace's men's tennis team opened up the regular season with a decisive 7-0 victory to kick off conference play.
The Lancers seized control early, sweeping all three doubles matchups to claim the first point of the match.
Javier Gallego and
Pablo Gregori lead off with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
Luis Cordoba and
Artur Pons teamed up to secure their match and the point 6-3. The final doubles match had the same 6-3 scoreline with
Facundo Paredes and
Salva Pons pairing together.
As the match transitioned to singles play, Grace continued to flex its muscle taking all five points to complete the sweep.
Captains Paredes and Gallego brought home the first two singles' points with commanding 6-0, 6-1 victories at No. 2 and No. 1 singles, respectively.
Gregori earned the decisive fourth point to secure the victory for the visitors. His match at No. 3 singles went 6-1, 6-1.
Newcomers
Salva Pons (No. 4) and Cordoba (No. 5) kicked off their careers with victories, winning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-0.Â
The final point came from the veteran Margaria, who capped off the match with a 6-2, 6-1.
Next up for Grace will be the home opener on Sept. 5 against Goshen. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Don Cramer Tennis Courts.
