NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Grace College's women's golf team laid claim to a top-three finish at the Holy Cross Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lancers carded scores of 326 and 333 in the two day event to secure third place in the 10-team event. Grace's "A" team has finished top-three in every tournament that they have competed in this year.
"
Grace May was outstanding for us today," commented Grace head coach
Denny Duncan. "She has been so consistent across her entire career and that has continued to stand true this year."Â
Grace May led the way with another all-tournament team performance. The senior had two consistent rounds with scores of 77 and 78 to finish fourth overall.
Brette Hanavan also turned in a top-10 performance with her mark of 164.
Grace Beerman had identical rounds of 84 to place just outside the top-10 and
Trinity Bramer carded a mark of 172 to land in 15th. Freshman
Camille Short rounded out the scoring for Grace with 174.
"Overall I think we were disappointed in our performance as a team because we know we can be so much better," Duncan said. "Today was just one of those days, but we have had a tremendous fall season and can't wait to compete for a national championship next week."
The tournament served as the Lancers final competition before competing for the NCCAA National Championship in Florida next week. Grace is one of the favorites heading into the 54-hole national tournament which will begin on Monday.
