MUNCIE, Ind. - Grace's track and field teams battled against large fields at two meets over the weekend.
The majority of the Lancers competed at Ball State's We Fly Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
Lanae Crowe highlighted Grace's performances on Friday. Crowe hit an NAIA "A" standard in the discus, finishing fifth overall with a launch of 146-feet-10.
Noah Zimmerman continued his impressive streak in the long jump, clearing 22-10 to grab third place. His jump beat the previous school record, which Zimmerman set last weekend.
Emily McCreary earned sixth place in the high jump (5-1), and Mackenzie Parker ended in ninth in the javelin throw (105-4).
Olivia Adkins (1:01.21) and Paula Fernandez (1:01.68) produced strong times in the 400, and Emma Conrad (15.75) and Madelyn Yoder (15.76) ran neck-and-neck in the 100 hurdles.
Yoder also joined Gracious O'Connor, Zoe Huley and Shannon Farnsworth to place 10th in the 4x100 relay at 49.24.
The men's 4x100 relay team of Ethan Cummins, Bryce King, Daniel Stoll and Mick Wright collected fifth place (42.36), and Justin Farris was eighth in the high jump (6-0.75). Stoll narrowly missed a top-10 showing in the 200 (21.87).
The men had three throwers place in the top-six of the javelin as well, including Josiah Thompson (160-5), Ethan Brown (155-10) and Clayton Martin (155-5).
Ian Cross led Grace in the 5,000 at 16:42.90, and Ryun Hoffert was one place behind him (16:46.18).
Grace also sent a portion of its squad to the Tiffin Track Carnival in Ohio.
Brandon Kleber impressed with a dominant race in the 10,000. He won the race with an NAIA "A" time of 30:52.68. Mallory Hiatt won the women's 10,000 with an NAIA "B" time of 37:36.00, and Madelyn Skidmore also hit a "B" standard at 37:41.00 to finish second. CeCeMItchell was seventh in the event (38:55.00).
Esther Cameron set a new school record in the 5,000. She raced to an impressive time of 17:40.03, bettering the record set by Hiatt just a few weeks prior.
Kylie Sauder hit an NAIA "A" standard in the 800 (2:13.02) to place third, and Anna Hulstedt was not far behind (2:16.40). Tara Friesen finished 10th in the 1,500 (4:45.68).
In the 3,000 steeplechase, Dakota Ames ran to a third-place time of 9:45.79, and Luke Nier finished seventh (9:51.21). Caroline Kolb earned 10th in the women's steeplechase.
Logan Rufenacht (1:52.84) and Dimitri Margaritidis (1:53.26) finished 5-6 in the 800.
Cassandra Cross grabbed eighth in the 1,500 (5:07.90).
The Lancers have one meet remaining in the regular season with next week's Little State Championships in Marion, Ind., on Friday and Saturday.
