Gibbs duo collect academic honors

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Two members of Grace's men's basketball team received national awards for their work in the classroom.

Lancer brothers Jakob Gibbs and Cade Gibbs were named to the Academic All-America Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Jakob was named First Team Academic All-America, and Cade was named Second Team Academic All-America. Only five players across the NAIA are selected to each team. Grace was the only school to have multiple players named Academic All-America.

Eligible student-athletes are voted on by CSC members to receive All-District and All-American recognition.

The Gibbs's brothers were pivotal members of Grace's groundbreaking season in 2023-24. The duo started every game of Grace's 34-2 season, helping the Lancers win the Crossroads League regular season and postseason tournament championships and advance to the NAIA Fab Four.

Jakob averaged 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals per game. He shot 52 percent from the floor and 37 percent on 3s and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Cade posted 13.1 points, 4.7 boards, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals per game. He connected on 53 percent from the floor, 33 percent on 3s and 75 percent and the foul line.
