UPLAND, Ind. - The track and field season continued for Grace on Saturday at Taylor's George Glass Invitational.
Grace broke two school records, including the oldest record remaining.
Dimitri Margaritidis posted a big mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to highlight the men's performances. He won the race in 9:21.26, hitting an NAIA "A" standard and setting a school record. He smashed the previous record by over 16 seconds (I. Beatty, 2021).
In the long jump, Noah Zimmerman broke the longest-standing record remaining in Grace's record book. He cleared 22-feet-4.5, edging out the 1975 record set by Vic Porter by three-quarters of an inch (22-3.75).
Logan Rufenacht was runner-up in the 1,500 (3:59.57), and Cole Johnston placed eighth in the race (4:06.78). Justin Farris was third in the high jump (6-1.5).
Mick Wright won the 100 dash with a time of 11.04 seconds. He teamed up with Ethan Cummins, Bryce King and Daniel Stoll to place second in the 4x100 relay as well (42.72).
Grace had three runners place in the top-10 of the 5,000. Brandon Kleber was runner-up at 14:48.86, Margaritidis was sixth (15:00.08) and Luis Loera grabbed ninth (15:32.96). Brady Hunsberger (15:37.20) and Luke Nier (15:38.53) were not far behind either.
In the throwing events, Brock Lengacher placed second in the discus (146-1) and sixth in the shot put (45-10.5), and Ethan Brown was second in the javelin (160-0).
On the women's side, Grace dominated the 5,000 with six runners placing in the top-10. Kylie Sauder was runner-up at 18:08.24.
Anna Hulstedt, Katie Acker and Madelyn Skidmore finished 4-5-6. Cassandra Cross and Cece Mitchell placed eighth and ninth respectively in the race.
In the women's steeplechase, Caroline Kolb was runner-up (12:00.61). She was followed closely by Ellie Wagoner in fourth and Kate Hornocker in fifth.
Shannon Farnsworth placed third in the 100 dash (12.86), Emily McCreary was third in the high jump (5-1), and Morgan Welch grabbed fifth place in the 800 (2:21.78).
Gracious O'Connor was second in the 400 (59.78) and fourth in the 200 (25.68), and Emma Conrad was fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.61).
Breanna Hyde had two high finishes, including second in the triple jump (33-5.25) and fourth in the long jump (17-5.25).
Mackenzie Parker finished third in the javelin (111-11), and Lance Crowe was third in the discus (131-5).
The women's 4x100 relay team of Madelyn Yoder, Olivia Adkins, Zoe Huley and Farnsworth earned a third-place finish at 49.07.
The Lancers are scheduled next to compete at Ball State's We Fly Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
