SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Grace College's women's golf team claimed second place at the Battle at Blackthorn tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lancers finished the tournament with a score of 641. Grace's second round score of 313 was a 15-stroke improvement from their first 18 holes.
Leading the charge for Grace was freshman
Camille Short who had a historic second round. Short closed out Tuesday with a second round total of 73. The mark matches the eighth lowest score in program history and the second lowest score recorded by a freshman player.
Short carded a two-round score of 154 which was just one stroke off the winning score as she finished in joint-second place.
Also recording a top-10 finish was
Grace May. May claimed sixth place in the 55-player field with a mark of 159 which was highlighted by a 76 in round two.
The next three Lancers were separated by just a single stroke.
Brette Hanavan, and
Trinity Bramer turned in identical scores of 165 with rounds of 83 and 82. Just behind her teammates and claiming 14th place was
Grace Beerman with a 166.
The Lancers will be back in action on September 21 at the Rumble at the Rock.
