FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team continued its early success in conference play with another win on Thursday afternoon. The Lancers took down St. Francis on the road with a 7-0 sweep.
Grace (2-0, 2-0 CL) started off the match strong once again taking all three of the doubles matches to secure the first point of the day.
Artur Pons and
Luis Cordoba paired up at No. 2 doubles, blanking their opponent 6-0.
Manuel Marques and
Roko Misura clinched the point with their 6-2 showing.
Pablo Gregori and
Salva Pons rounded out the duos with a 6-2 tally.
The Lancers continued to secure points with ease, not allowing the Cougars to pick up more than three games in any set.
Artur Pons went 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the second point. Rahine followed with a 6-2, 6-0 scoreline to put the visitors on the verge of victory.
Salva Pons secured the match with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph.
Gregori finished his day 6-1, 6-1 to add to the total. Marques had a little bit more work, but was able to come away 6-2, 6-3. Misura was ahead 6-0 in his pairing before his opponent was forced to retire from the match, completing the sweep.
The Lancers will return home for a tilt against Mount Vernon on Saturday afternoon. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Don Cramer Tennis Courts.
