WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's men's tennis team picked up its third win of the season with a 7-0 victory over Mount Vernon on Saturday afternoon at the Don Cramer Tennis Courts.
Grace (3-0, 3-0 CL) jumped all over the Cougars from the start en route to the sweep. The Lancers dropped just two games across the entire match.
Doubles play went to the Lancers in quick fashion.
Artur Pons and
Luis Cordoba were first to complete their match with a 6-0 showing to set the tone.
Pablo Gregori and
Benjamin Rahine clinched the point with a 6-0 scoreline of their own.
Cesar Garcia and
Landon Gibson made their season debuts at No. 3 doubles, claiming their match 6-0.
Artur Pons was first to claim a singles point with a straight sets victory at No. 2. Gregori blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 as well to put the team one point away from securing the match. Cordoba added the fourth point of the day with his 6-0, 6-0 match.
Manuel Marques and
Roko Misura finished off the day to complete the sweep, winning in straight sets.
The Lancers will be on the road for a pair of matches before returning home on September 16. Grace will face No. 24 Marian in a Top 25 showdown on Sept. 9 at 11 a.m.
