WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's women's tennis team picked up its second straight win with a 7-0 performance on Saturday afternoon.
The Lancers (2-1, 2-1 CL) got off to a hot start, picking up the doubles point with a pair of 6-0 matches from
Jimena Ramirez/
Alejandra Sandoval and
Geraldine Salinas/
Natalie Schoenherr.
Grace benefitted from a limited Cougar roster, picking up two of the singles points via forfeit. The remaining points went to the Lancers as well with impressive showings across the board.
Needing to secure only one more point, Schoenherr blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the match for the home team.
Molli Runestad followed with a 6-1, 6-0 tally, dropping just one game across two sets.
Amy Adams went 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles before
Lydia Ruegsegger claimed her match 6-4, 7-6(4) to finish out the day.
Grace will hit the road for a pair of ranked matches next week. First on the schedule is a test against No. 19 Marian on Monday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
