Grace spikers sweep No. 22 Marian

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's volleyball team registered another marquee victory on Wednesday night.

The Lancers produced a convincing sweep of No. 22 Marian, collecting their second Top-25 upset in the past two weeks.

Grace unleashed a dominant offensive performance. The Lancers (11-10, 4-5 Crossroads League) racked up 46 kills on a .283 percentage. Anna Elkin led the charge with 15 kills.

The Knights (12-6, 4-5 CL) were muted to just 29 kills in comparison.

Grace's offense clicked early in the match, helping the home team to an early lead. Three early kills from Callie Jo Celichowski pushed Grace into a 10-6 lead.

The Knights rallied midway into the set, using a 7-1 run to sprint ahead 17-16. Grace responded with a kill from Levyn Snow and an ace from Liz Schmidt to regain the lead.

Down the stretch, Grace was sparked by kills from Snow, Elkin and Molly Hofmann to ease away to a 25-20 win.

The Lancers kept their momentum rolling into the second set. Grace used an 8-3 run to gain separation, forcing the Knights to burn both of their timeouts.

Grace had no trouble ending the set, cruising to a definitive 25-12 victory. The Lancers amassed 14 kills on just two errors (.500 percentage) in the set; seven players registered a kill in the set, led by Hofmann's four kills on five swings.

The third set was the most closely contested. The teams traded small leads until halfway through the set. A pair of small 3-0 runs pushed Grace ahead, and Elkin polished off the sweep with a kill on the final play as Grace won 25-22.

Elkin's 15 kills came on a .310 percentage. Hofmann added seven kills, and Liz Schmidt led all players with 15 digs.

Reese McCutchan produced 22 assists, 2 aces and 8 digs, Carsyn Witt passed out 15 assists, and Leah Henderson tallied six kills with two block assists.
