Lancers Finish Third at National Championships

PALM COAST, Fla. - Grace College's women's golf team closed out the NCCAA National Tournament with a third place finish.

The Lancers turned in their best performance of the week on Wednesday, shooting the third lowest single round of the tournament with a 314.

"I am so proud of how the ladies battled back today," commented Grace head coach Denny Duncan. "Their were times this afternoon when we had fallen back to fifth and for them to fight back and finish within four-strokes of second place shows the grit and determination they have."

The Lancers saved their best for last with nearly the entire lineup turning in the best round score on the final 18 holes.

Camille Short just missed the top-10 overall after finishing the tournament with a mark of 242, thanks to a 77 on her final card.

Brette Hanavan also broke 80 on the final day with a mark of 79 and took home 14th place.

Kiley Standring was the model of consistency for Grace, shooting 82-81-83 and placed 17th in her first national tournament appearance.

Trinity Bramer shot an even 250 overall and Grace Beerman posted a 75 on the final round to help her tie with Bramer for 22nd.

"This tournament is always such a great experience," commented Duncan. "So thankful to the NCCAA for putting on this tournament and for these ladies to continually perform well enough to get us here."
