RICHMOND, Ind. - Grace's men's basketball team tied a season-high in scoring, running by IU East 105-75 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lancers topped 50 points in each half in an offensive showcase.
Ian Raasch and Tyler Raasch got Grace's team off to a strong start, combining to score Grace's first 11 points of the game.
Grace first took control of the game seven minutes into the contest. The Lancers employed a 16-2 charge to open up a 13-point lead.Â
Gage Sefton scored the first nine points of that run, and Cannen Houser scored the final seven as Grace quickly led 29-16.
The Lancers opened up a 20-point cushion after two quick layups from Luke Bricker and Gavin Betten.
A 9-0 run (sparked by two triples from Sefton) pushed Grace ahead by 30, and the Lancers went into halftime with a comfortable 54-31 advantage.
Grace shot 59 percent from the floor and 56 percent on 3-pointers; the Red Wolves were held to 36-percent shooting before halftime.
Sefton racked up 15 points to lead all players, including making all three of his 3-point tries in the first half.
The Lancers essentially put the contest out of reach with 13 minutes left in regulation. Grace exploded with 19 unanswered points, powered by eight points from Houser, to seize a commanding 41-point lead (85-44).Â
Grace began taking out its starters with 15 minutes to play in the game, allowing the full bench to see extended playing time.Â
The Lancers maintained a lead around 30 for the rest of the way, coasting to the final 105-75 victory.
As a team, Grace had 24 assists on just eight turnovers. The squad shot 54 percent for the game overall and 35 percent on 3-pointers.Â
Sefton led all players with 21 points, shooting 9 of 12 from the floor, and Houser added 18 points (8 of 10 shooting), 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
Ian Raasch tallied 13 points, 8 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals, and Tyler Raasch added 10 points and two blocked shots.
Hunter Walston collected 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, Grady Carpenter had 4 points, 7 assists and 2 steals, and Betten notched eight points and four rebounds.
Bricker (6 points), Isaac Schultz (5 points), Michael Wellman (4 points) and Cole Hayworth (4 points) also earned their spot in the scoring column.
The Lancers' next action is their Crossroads League debut. Grace will take on Taylor on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m., after the conclusion of the women's game.
