WINONA LAKE, Ind. - National tournament soccer is coming to Grace College next week.
Grace's men's and women's soccer teams both earned host bids for the NAIA National Championships with games being held next week in Winona Lake.
Grace's women's soccer team earned the No. 7 overall seed in the tournament field, receiving an automatic bid as the Crossroads League Tournament champions.
Grace is a top-eight team in the bracket, giving the squad a three-team pod. Southern Oregon and Morningside will play in Winona Lake on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the NAIA First Round. The winner of Thursday's game will play Grace's women on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the NAIA Second Round.
Whichever team advances from the women's pod will clinch a spot in the NAIA's final site in Pensacola, Fla., beginning Dec. 1.
The men's team received the No. 15 overall seed in the NAIA bracket. Grace will welcome William Penn in the NAIA Second Round on Saturday at 6 p.m. The winner will advance to the NAIA final site in Orange Beach, Ala.
All NAIA games next week will be played at Grace's 1st Source Bank Field. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.gclancers.com/tickets. The matches will also be livestreamed at www.gclancers.com/live.Â
Grace's women are making their seventh all-time appearance to the NAIA National Championships, all occurring under head coach Michael Voss.
Grace's men are making their sixth trip to NAIA Nationals, including four trips in the past six years under head coach Arron Patrick.
Next week will be a historic one for Grace College soccer; it will mark the first time that Grace has hosted an NAIA Opening Round for both men's and women's soccer during the same year. Overall, next week will be the fifth year that Grace has hosted an NAIA Opening Round soccer match.
