Lancers seize two national titles to start NCCAA Nationals

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Grace's track and field team enjoyed a banner day on Thursday at the 2025 NCCAA National Championships.

The Lancers won two individual national titles and secured six All-American finishes on the penultimate day of the national meet.

Grace's women lead the team standings with 44 points, 14 points clear of second-place Jessup. The men's team is sixth among a crowded leaderboard.

Emily McCreary became a national champion in the high jump. She cleared 1.65 meters for her first national title.

Cece Mitchell grabbed Grace's second national title of the day in the 10,000. She ran a sterling time of 38:27.90 to claim her first championship.

Lanae Crowe was a national runner-up in the discus, launching 42.21 meters to collect All-American honors (top-three finish).

Cole Johnston was also an All-American in the 10,000, finishing in third place with a time of 31:38.63.

Makayla Neal earned All-American status in the heptathlon. She placed third in the nation with a total of 3,864 points, winning events in the 100 hurdles and high jump.

Neal also competed in the standalone high jump with McCreary, finishing fifth overall. She had a busy day, placing eighth in the long jump.

The 4x800 relays excelled for Grace. The men's crew of Caleb Nichols, Carter Clear, Kyle Robinson and Brady Hunsberger seized an All-American finish of 7:41.17 for second place.

The women's team of Olivia Adkins, Cassandra Cross, Cadence Manning and Morgan Welch nabbed fourth place in 9:43.83.

Grace had two in the top-10 of the men's javelin, including Josiah Thompson in fourth and Carter Paeschke in ninth.

Emma Conrad placed third in the preliminaries of the 100 hurdles (15.03) and will compete in the finals tomorrow. Michael Muiruri was also third in the prelims of the 110 hurdles (15.56).

The Lancers will wrap up competition at the NCCAA championships on Friday. The action-packed Friday will crown 22 track champions and nine field champions.
