WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace College's women's golf team took home a second place finish at the Battle at Stonehenge on Tuesday afternoon.
The 36-hole tournament saw several Lancers set new career best marks and Grace's "b-team" claimed fourth place in the 11 team field, besting three conference foes.
Grace was just six strokes behind No. 18 Taylor after the first round and finished the tournament with a mark of 629 which was just a stroke away from being a top-10 lowest two-round score in program history. The Lancers "b-team" finished with a score of 658.
Kiley Standring had a breakout performance, leading the way for Grace. Standring shot a career low 75 on the second day of the tournament which helped her to a fourth place finish out of 60 golfers. Her 36-hole total was 154.
Next in line for Grace was
Camille Short and
Grace Beerman who tied for sixth place. Both players shot 157 across the two days.
Reagan Clifton was up next for Grace as she paced the "b-team". Clifton shot a career low of 79 to open the tournament, and nearly matched up day two with an 80. She finished just outside the top 10 at 11th.
Freshman
Lexi Kelley broke 80 over the final 18 holes to take 14th with a mark of 161 and teammates
Brette Hanavan and
Trinity Bramer were right behind.Bramer and Hanavan each carded 162 to tie for 15th.
Ava Thomas shot 86-80 to take a top 20 finish and
Raigan King also turned in a career day. King shot an 83 on the second round the set a career low for a round and helped to a career low for a two round score as she finished with a mark of 172.
The Lancers will be back in action on October 9, as they partake in the Huntington invitational.
