ALLENDALE, Mich. - Grace's track and field team battled at the massive GVSU Bill Clinger Classic on Friday evening.
The Lancers set another school record while gaining competition against a fierce slate of opponents.
Mick Wright bettered his own school record from a week ago in the 60-meter dash. He ran a time of 6.91 seconds in the preliminary race, going on to finish runner-up in the event.
Luke Mansfield grabbed ninth in the long jump (21-3.5), Cherish Ray ran 8.38 seconds in the 60-meter dash, and Kyle Olszewski posted a time of 1:26.30 in the 600.
Morgan Welch ran the mile in 5:13.89, and Brady Hunsberger ran the men's mile in 4:24.63.
In the 800, Cadence Manning led the women's efforts (2:21.08), and Ty McPhatter paced Grace's men (1:57.80).
Cece Mitchell was Grace's top finisher in the women's 3,000 (10:28.00), and Austin Wilson ran an 8:58.23 in the men's 3,000.
In the 4x800, Grace's men were seventh (Caleb Nichols, Mansfield, McPhatter, Jackson Winey), and Grace's women (Manning, Ray, Welch, Sophie Rupp) placed 11th.
Next week the Lancers will travel to Ohio for the Wittenberg Invitational on Jan. 31. Grace has two more indoor meets remaining in the regular season before jumping into the postseason.
