MARION, Ind. – Grace's track and field team continued to rack up awards and school records at Saturday's concluding day of the Crossroads League Indoor Championships.
Cece Mitchell earned the highlight of the weekend for Grace. She won the 5,000 crown in a stellar time of 17:49.23. Her finish marked the ninth-fastest time in league meet history.
Grace wasted little time getting on the podium in the field events.
Michael Muiruri finished as the league's runner-up in the triple jump, clearing 45-feet-9.25. It bettered his previous school record by nearly two inches. The mark was the No. 5 jump all-time in league meet history.
Muiruri also scored for Grace in the 60 hurdles, claiming seventh place (8.71 seconds).
Lani Calizo took bronze in the high jump, placing third with a clearance of 5-3.25 to equal her own school record. Sophie Rupp (4-11.5) was fifth in the event, and Molly Hofmann was 10th (4-9.5).
Mick Wright was fourth in the 60 dash. Wright's time of 6.78 seconds lowered his school record from yesterday by another .01 seconds. His finish in the finals was the eighth-fastest time in the history of the league meet.
In the women's mile, Morgan Welch grabbed fourth place (5:14.87).
Grace earned points in the 800 as well; Cadence Manning finished seventh overall in 2:21.22. Caleb Nichols earned a point for the men, placing eighth in 1:56.42, and Ty McPhatter was 10th (1:57.70).
Grace Pettit placed eighth in the 3,000 (10:42.01), and John Young was ninth for the men (8:55.86).
Across the two-day event, Grace's women finished eighth out of 10 teams, and the men were ninth.
Grace will wrap up the indoor season at the 2026 NAIA Indoor National Championships in Gainesville, Fla., from March 5-7.
