MARION, Ind. - Grace's track and field teams enjoyed a strong opening day at the 2026 Crossroads League Indoor Championships on Friday.
The Lancers posted three school records and had multiple All-League finishes.
Makayla Neal broke the indoor pentathlon record; she amassed 2,899 points to place fourth in the conference, breaking the previous record from 2021 (Olivia Lugibihl).
Cadence Manning topped another school record. She crossed the finish line in the 600-meter race in 1:38.61, placing seventh. She beat the previous mark set in 2022 (Kylie Sauder).
Mick Wright set a third record, lowering his previous mark in the 60 dash. He sprinted to a time of 6.79 seconds in the preliminaries, winning his heat and advancing to Saturday's finals.
Grace began the meet with a fourth-place finish in the men's 4x800 relay. Brady Hunsberger, Luis Loera, Caleb Nichols and Reid Sollars combined for a time of 7:54.86.
Luke Mansfield grabbed fifth place as a freshman in the long jump (22-feet-0.75).
Michael Muiruri comfortably won his preliminary heat in the 60 hurdles (8.73) and will race in the finals on Saturday.
Abby Affholter placed 10th in the weight throw (41-8.75), and Carter Paeschke was 13th in the men's weight throw (40-6).
Kila Foster was 11th in the 60 dash (8.05) and 15th in the long jump (14-10).
