Fonseca chosen as next head coach for Grace Tennis

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace College's athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of Lucas Fonseca as the school's next head men's and women's tennis coach.

Fonseca, no stranger to Grace, played for the Lancers from 2016-20. Grace's tennis program showed steady improvement during his career, culminating with a then-school record of 16 wins during his senior campaign.

"It is an honor to return to Grace to lead a program that has made such a meaningful impact on my life. Thanks to Dr. Drew Flamm and Chad Briscoe for their support in allowing me to lead the tennis programs," Fonseca said. "I look forward to partnering with all those who support our tennis program to ensure it continues to excel and to positively shape the lives of our tennis players, just as it has shaped mine. My wife and I are thrilled for the opportunity and for the support we have already received from many staff and faculty members."

Apart from his tennis experience, Fonseca has built a successful professional career as well. He is the founder and CEO of Language Matters, leading a multicultural team to provide language accessibility solutions to organizations.

He also is the co-founder of Aiming Toward College, which provides guidance to international students who are pursuing educational opportunities in the U.S.

For his body of work, he was named the Young Alumni of the Year by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in 2026 and was Grace's Young Alumni of the Year in 2025. He was also given the Indiana Latino Institute Rising Star award in 2023.

"We are thrilled with the addition of Lucas as our next tennis coach. He brings vast experience and knowledge in the tennis world that will serve him well as he recruits and leads," said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. "Lucas and his wife Bethany have a deep heart for ministry, and we are excited to see how the Lord will use their leadership to impact our tennis program."
