WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace College's men's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw with Midland on Saturday afternoon at First Source Bank Field.
The Lancers (2-2-1) blasted 17 shots towards goal but were unable to break the deadlock in Saturday's tie.
Grace had four shots and three corner kicks in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
Felix Voigt and
Mateus Pereira each had two shots. Two shots were on target and required reaching saves from the Warriors' keeper.
After the Lancer's early chances Midland enjoyed the majority of possession. The Warriors were patient in their attack, slowing building from their backline and staying wide.
Midland had a trio of corner kicks over the middle portion of the half and tried seven shots, but none of them found their target, nor forced a save.
Grace chased possession for much of the remainder of the half as the game entered the intermission with the game level.
Midland had seven first half shots to Grace's four. The Lancers had one fewer corner kick chance and one fewer foul.
The second half was a one sided affair as the Lancers dominated possession. The Lancers had three corner kicks and two shots in the opening minutes.
Osmildo Estrela had another shot that was on target but again his try was saved as Midland kept the game even.
With 30 minutes left in the half
Josh Cruz got loose behind the Warriors defense and had a one-on-one chance with the goalie. His ensuing try sailed high of the net.
The Lancers kept peppering shots towards goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
With seven minutes left
Teague Misner had a shot that forced a save and with just over a minute left
Mateus Pereira had a shot blocked and the ensuing loose ball sat tantalizingly free in the box before being cleared which sealed the 0-0 draw.
Grace outshot Midland 17-8 with 13 of their shots coming in the second half. Grace also had six second half corner kicks to give them a 10-6 edge in the game.
The lancers will be back in action on Monday morning when they host Westcliff at 11 a.m.
