Box Score SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – A trio of early goals proved to be too much for Grace's women's soccer team to overcome as 12th-ranked Oklahoma City won 4-1 on Friday.
A first-half goal from Meredith Hollar could not hold off the Stars' momentum as the Lady Lancers continued their stiff nonleague schedule.
"Overall this was not very good from us today over the full 90 minutes. We spotted them three early goals with poor play and then got it going after," said Grace head coach Michael Voss. "Even with the not-so-good start, we had plenty of good sections of defending and excellent possession for other sections. We had several golden opportunities that could have made a big difference in the outcome."
The Stars (2-2) netted three goals in the first half to put the Lady Lancers in an early bind.
Holly Bennett earned an assist when her shot in the 22nd minute railed off the crossbar and to the feet of Meredith Hollar, who scored Grace's only goal at the 21:26 mark.
Oklahoma City added their fourth goal in the 56th minute, and Grace was unable to claw back for the rest of the match.
Grace was outshot 22-11 in the match with Hollar accounting for four shots. Carianne Sobey and Mallory Rondeau added two shots apiece. The Stars held a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Lancers will look to rebound on Saturday on the road against John Brown University in their final nonleague match of the year.
