WINONA LAKE, Ind. – A pair of second-half goals from freshman Meredith Hollar highlighted Grace's 3-0 victory over Huntington on Saturday.

The Lady Lancers (6-5; 3-0 CL) maintained their unblemished Crossroads League rival with a shutout of the Foresters in front of a packed Miller Field crowd.

Grace held an impressive 27-8 shot advantage, tallying 13 shots on goal.

"The women started a bit off today, but they ended up getting it going. The mids and backs really got it figured out and made it happen today," said head coach Michael Voss. "We were dangerous many times but did not convert early. I'm happy with the perseverance and goals converted against a good side today."

Grace had several strong scoring strikes in the first half, including looks from Hollar, Emily Hickerson and Mallory Rondeau. But the Foresters (3-8; 2-1 CL) kept the Lady Lancers off the scoreboard until the 38th minute.

Carianne Sobey crossed a ball into the penalty box from the right side of the field to the head of Holly Bennett. Bennett's header dropped to Jalisa Thayer, and the senior defender netted her first collegiate goal at the 37:39 mark.

Overall in the first half, Grace held a 12-3 shot advantage.

The second half was much of the same as the Lady Lancers ripped of 15 shots over the final 45 minutes. Meredith Hollar tripled Grace's advantage with two goals in a five-minute span.

Kaitlan Wiles sparked the team's second goal. Wiles attacked from the middle of the field and passed ahead to Hollar, who turned and ripped her goal from the top of the box in the 76th minute.

Hollar earned her seventh goal of the season in the 80th minute. A cross from Sobey was stopped initially by the Foresters' goalkeeper, and Hollar finished the loose ball from close range to put Grace ahead 3-0.

Holly Bennett nearly added a fourth goal for Grace in the final minutes, but her long shot railed off the crossbar.

Grace's defensive effort by Heather Martin, Faith Voehringer, Thayer and Erica Manchess held Huntington to just three shots on goal. Carmen Barnhill earned the shutout victory in goal.

Hollar led all players with 12 shots and five shots on goal, and Bennett added four shots. Grace played 17 players in the comprehensive victory.

The Lady Lancers will put their undefeated league record to the test next week with a pair of road matches. Grace plays at Bethel on Wednesday and at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday.
