VERO BEACH, Fla. - Grace's baseball team's trip to Florida got off to a bright start thanks to a dramatic come-from-behind 9-8 win over Penn State Brandywine on Sunday.
Chase Baker provided the game-winning moment, hitting a walkoff double in the seventh inning for the Lancers (4-7-1).
Baker finished the game 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs in a strong performance.
Brandywine put Grace in a hole by scoring five of its runs over the last two innings. Grace entered the bottom of the seventh behind 8-6 after Brandywine scored two more in the top of the seventh.
The Lancers scored one to move within 8-7 and loaded the bases with two outs. Baker then stepped up a laced a double off the center field wall to score the winning two runs and complete a three-run comeback.
Xavier Harris hit 2-for-4 and had a two-out RBI, and Gavin Bussard was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs. Hunter Ackerman had 2 runs, 3 walks and 1 steal, and Austin Baker doubled and scored.
Joe Dougherty got the start, giving up three runs in 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.
Blake Converset was credited with the win from the mound, tossing the final two batters.
The Lancers are back in action on Monday night against Trinity International.
