WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace's baseball team collected its second Crossroads League Player of the Week award and first NCCAA Player of the week award of the season on Monday.
Evan Etchison was named the Crossroads League and NCCAA Pitcher of the Week for his dominance on the mound against No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan. It marked the second league award and first NCCAA award of his career.
The senior from Anderson, Ind., was instrumental in Grace's upset victory over No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan over the weekend. He tossed a complete-game shutout to give Grace its first Crossroads League victory of the season.
In seven innings of work, he scattered six hits and stranded nine runners on base. He fanned eight, while striking out the last batter of the inning four separate times.
The Lancers will return home for a four-game series against Mount Vernon on March 8-9 at Tom Roy - UPI Park. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. each day.
