Briscoe named to Northside (Va.) Hall of Fame

ROANOKE, Va. - Grace's Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe will receive a hometown honor this week.

Briscoe will be inducted into the Northside High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.

He starred at his alma mater in Virginia, graduating in 1991. On the basketball court, he was named the Blue Ridge District Player of the Year and honorable mention for All-State as a senior, leading his team to the district regular season championship and winning the district tournament title as well. Additionally, he was named First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Timesland.

During Briscoe's tenure, Northside qualified for the state tournament for the first time under head coach Bill Pope. Pope has coached the Vikings since 1986 and has three state titles. Briscoe's team posted a record of 23-3, setting the school mark for best record at the time.

Briscoe still holds the record at Northside for best free throw percentage and for the most free throws made in a row (32).

Briscoe was also a standout cross country runner. As team captain and All-Conference performer, he led the team to a region runner-up finish while qualifying for the state meet.
