TIFFIN, Ohio - Grace's track and field team splits its forces across two states over the weekend at two meets.
The majority of the Lancers competed in Ohio at Tiffin University.
Morgan Welch was the runner-up in the 800-meter race (2:20.17), and Emily McCreary bettered her school record in the high jump, clearing 5-feet-5. Makayla Neal was just behind McCreary in fifth place (5-1).
The men enjoyed strong performances in the javelin throw. Josiah Thompson won the event with a toss of 154-0. Carter Paeschke was second (145-8), and Clayton Martin placed fourth (136-5).
The women had three of the top-seven finishers in the 100 hurdles, including Emma Conrad in third, Madelyn Yoder in fifth and Makayla Neal in seventh.
Lanae Crowe excelled, producing fifth place in the discus (128-8), ninth in the hammer (133-9) and 10th in the shot put (36-9.5).
Connor Etchison placed eighth in the hammer (136-7), 12th in the discus (114-6) and 15th in the shot put (39-10.5).
John Young and Avery Samms both earned fifth in their respective 1,500 races, and Alana Bohls ended in 12th in the 5,000 (21:11.58).
Grace also sent a handful of runners to the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State, competing in the 800 and the 5,000.
In the 5,000, Cole Johnston was the runner-up with a time of 14:40.38. Tame Baylis placed fifth for the women (18:04.19).
Grace also had two top-10 finishes in the 800, including fifth place for Brady Hunsberger (1:54.14) and seventh for Kylie Sauder (2:18.67).
The Lancers' next scheduled race is the Crossroads League Championships in Marion, Ind., on May 1-2.
