WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The season officially came to a close on Saturday for Grace's women's tennis team.
The Lancers took care of DePauw, winning 5-2 at home. Grace (13-7) ends the year on a three-match winning streak.
Under head coach Emily Ackerman, Grace posted its third-most wins in program history for a single season.
The Lancers claimed the top two doubles' courts to earn the first point in the match. Jimena Ramirez and Alejandra Sandoval won easily 6-2 at No. 1, and Lydia Ruegsegger and Shannon Brumbaugh held on for a narrow 7-5 win at No. 2.
The singles' matches were hotly contested, including a pair of three-set wins by Grace.
Natalie Schoenherr had won in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4, and Ramirez also battled to a two-set win at No. 1.
Sandoval was in a deadlock at No. 2 singles after splitting the first two sets, but she pulled out a 6-4 win in the third set to win the match.
Ruegsegger fell behind in the final singles match of her impressive Lancer career. But after dropping the first set, she roared back to win 6-3, 6-4 to wrap up her playing days in style.
