Lancers rack up All-League finishes at CL Championships

MARION, Ind. - The final day of the 2025 Crossroads League Championships produced several memorable finishes for Grace's track and field team.

The Lancers produced eight All-League results (top-three finishes) and set a school record to wrap up the league season on Friday.

Grace's women ended up in fourth place as a team, tied for the best finish in history. The men ended in seventh place.

Kylie Sauder had the highlight of the meet for Grace. She blew past her competitors in the 800-meter run, breaking the tape in a time of 2:11.14, an NAIA "A" standard. Her winning time was the second-fastest 800 time in meet history and beat Friday's second-place finisher by nearly two seconds.

Grace Pettit posted a stellar time in the 3,000 steeplechase. Her time of 11:39.49 was good for second in the race, earning herself All-League honors in the process.

Addison Grady raced to an All-League finish when she placed third in the 1,500 at 4:47.00.

In the javelin, Grace's men owned four of the top-six throws. Josiah Thompson was the runner-up at 169-feet-9. Brock Lengacher was third (163-2), Carter Paeschke was fourth (154-3), and Clayton Martin was sixth (148-8).

Michael Muiruri was runner-up in the triple jump, clearing 44-6.75. Brock Lengacher posted a fifth-place showing in the hammer (154-6).

Makayla Neal finished a grueling heptathlon with a school-record result. Her point total of 3,948 broke a 21-year-old record (Adrianne Thomas, 2004) and placed fourth in the conference.

Brady Hunsberger was also fourth in the 1,500 (3:52.15), edging out the fourth-place runner by .02 at the finish line. Carter Clear earned sixth in the men's steeplechase (9:44.91).

Grace racked up points in the 5,000. In the men's race, Brandon Kleber was second in 14:53.61, and Cole Johnston was third in 15:00.97.

The women had three top-10 finishers in the 5,000. Tame Baylis picked up fourth place with a run of 18:36.73, Cece Mitchell was eighth in 18:52.02, and Grace Geller was 10th (19:09.65).

The women's 4x400 relay nabbed fourth place thanks to Cadence Manning, Olivia Adkins, Sophie Rupp and Sauder (4:00.71).

The women's 4x100 relay grabbed sixth place as Madelyn Yoder, Adkins, Kaitlyn Strietelmeier and Emma Conrad teamed up with a time of 51.38 seconds. Conrad also claimed fifth place in the 100 hurdles at 15.05 seconds.

"We had some fantastic racing and competition today. I'm very proud of how well we placed, even with a smaller team than most others," said Grace head coach Brian Dewey. "Our athletes did a great job of hitting quality performances on a big day like the league meet. We had a large number of scoring places across the board."

The postseason will continue next week with the 2025 NCCAA National Championships, held in Columbia, S.C. from May 7-9.
