SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Grace College's men's golf team had an impressive showing at Pilot Spring Invitational with two players tying atop the leaderboard.
The Lancers took 2nd place in the 12 team field while
Braxton Christie and
Camron Jones paced the field and finished in a deadlock. Christie ultimately took home the overall medalist honors with a win on the first playoff hole.
Christie gave himself a comfortable lead after the first round as he sat six under par with a score of 66. His first round mark was the third lowest single round score in Grace's history. Christie closed out the tournament with a total score of 139 and five under par.
Jones shot even par in round one but nearly completed the comeback as he carded a 73 in the second round, a score which is now tied for the fourth lowest single round score in team history.
Christie's and Jones' tournament scores of 139 are tied for the second lowest two-round score in Lancer history.
Isaac Embry was next in line for the Lancers with back-to-back rounds of 75. He finished just outside the top 10 with a 12th place finish.
Also shooting identical rounds was
Max Seachrist. Seachrist shot 77 in both rounds, just four strokes off his teammate's pace.
Noah Riffle shot a 158 and
Charlie Jones carded a mark of 164 to round out the scoring for Grace.
Both of Grace's round scores and tournament totals were all top-10 marks in Grace's record book.
Grace will now turn its attention toward the Crossroads League Championship which will start on April 26 and be hosted in West Lafayette, Ind.
