VERO BEACH, Fla. - Grace's baseball team continued its impressive spring break trip with a 12-1 win over Penn State-New Kensington on Friday.

The Lancers improved to 4-1 while playing at historic Dodgertown in Florida. Grace has one game remaining on Saturday in Florida, playing Miami-Hamilton at 10 a.m.

New Kensington started the game well, scoring a run in the top of the first inning. That proved to be the high point of the game for New Kensington, however.

Grace responded with three runs in the bottom of the first, keyed by a two-run triple from Austin Baker.

The Lancers did not slow down, scoring multiple runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. With two outs in the fourth, Matthew Warren hit a bases-clearing triple to plate three and make the score 8-1.

In the fifth, Hunter Ackerman hit another two-out triple to plate two more runners. John McCarty then promptly singled to score Ackerman and make the game 11-1.

Grace added its 12th run in the sixth inning when Ethan Brooks hit an RBI single to score Spencer Mason.

Blake Converset started the game on the mound, giving up just two hits in five innings to get the win. Aaron Voirol and Jacob Farley pitched perfect innings of relief in the sixth and seventh innings.

Ackerman was a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Austin Baker was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Xavier Harris and Chase Baker each scored twice, and Brooks hit 2-for-2.

Overall, 10 different players for Grace recorded a hit. The Lancers outhit New Kensington 12-2 in the game.
