SOUTH BEND, Ind. - A pair of Lancers finished in the top 10 individually to propel Grace to a strong third-place finish at the Battle of Blackthorn, hosted by Bethel University.

Junior Blake Lawson shot 74-71 to finish in fifth place with a 145 total for the 36-hole event. Senior Noah Wright was close behind, posting scores of 73-73 to tie for sixth at 146.

"We showed a lot of improvement this week," said Coach Denny Hepler. "I'm proud of how this team is maturing."

Chase Byron shot identical 75's to end up at 150, while Payton Kelly totaled 154. Parker Wilburn (159) and Tristen Dubbs (160) rounded out the scoring for the Lancers.

Taylor University won the event with a team total of 570, followed by Lawrence Tech (Mich) at 592. Grace shot 595

The Lancers will next play in another tournament hosted by Bethel on October 4-5. That event will be played at the Harbor Shores Golf Club in Michigan.
