MARION, Ind. - Grace's track and field program had its final meet of the indoor regular season on Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan.
The Lancers had one new school record and hit a handful of NAIA standards as well.
The women's 4x800-meter relay made history with a new school record. Tara Friesen, Heather Plastow, Anna Hulstedt and Kylie Sauder posted a time of 9:28.98, winning the race and smashing the old record by almost eight seconds. It was an NAIA "A" standard.
Sauder also won another race, claiming the 1,000 with an NAIA "B" mark of 3:03.08. Plastow was just behind in second place with another "B" time of 3:03.19, and Hulstedt grabbed fifth place in the race at 3:06.80.
The 400 saw freshman Olivia Adkins collect fourth place as she crossed the finish line in 1:02.47.
Emma Lingenfelter was 10th in the 800 (2:33.41), Katie Acker was fifth in the 3,000 (10:58.89), and Caroline Kolb was ninth in the 5,000 (20:02.31).
Additionally, Claire Horvath cleared 4-feet-10.5 in the high jump for sixth place, Malia Butler was also sixth in the long jump (16-1), and Mackenzie DeLong grabbed ninth place in the shot put (39-6.5).
On the men's side, Grace put three runners in the top-10 of the 1,000. Logan Rufenacht won the race with an NAIA "A" time of 2:30.81, and Dimitri Margaritidis was second with another "A" time of 2:30.89. Korry Hamlin was eighth in the race at 2:36.40.
Hamlin was also third in the mile at 4:21.82, and Dakota Ames ran 4:33.53 to place eighth.
Bryan Hernandez-Rios was runner-up in the 800 when he posted a time of 1:57.05. Carter Clear grabbed sixth in the race at 2:00.93.
In addition, Kye Barrett placed 14th in the 600 (1:30.79), and the men'x 4x800 was seventh (Brady Hunsberger, Luke Smith, Carson Martin, Carter Clear; 8:02.37).
In the throws, Zaryn Rumfelt grabbed ninth in the weight throw (45-1.5) and 14th in the shot put (43-7.25).
The men's side had one group of runners compete at Notre Dame on Friday, smashing another school record in the distance medley relay. To read more about their race, click here.
The Lancers' indoor postseason begins next week. The 2023 NCCAA Indoor National Championships will be held at Cedarville on Friday and Saturday.
