CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Grace's women's tennis team was unable to hand Cedarville a loss on Friday night, narrowly falling 4-3.
The Lancers fell into an early hole by losing the doubles' point. Jimena Ramirez and Faith Valentine managed to win a point at No. 1 doubles (6-2), but Cedarville swept the other two courts to grab an early advantage.
Grace did its best to rally, winning half of the singles' courts. Lauren Harris was a speedy 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles, and Molli Runestad also cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5.
Valentine won for the second time, battling in three sets to win at No. 2 singles.
The Yellow Jackets registered points at No. 1, 3 and 6 singles, however, to claim the team victory.
Grace will play again on Saturday, taking on Lawrence Tech at noon.
