ADA, Mich. - Grace's women's golf team picked up its first tournament win at the Pure Michigan Invitational.
The Lady Lancers dominated the field of six, placing four golfers in the top-five overall. Grace's 305 was 30 strokes better than the second-place finisher Lawrence Tech (335).
Lucy Young and Carolyn Pacocha tied for the overall lead with a round of 74 with Young taking the medalist honor.
Rachel Harvey finished third in the field with a 77, and Rebecca Hawes was fifth with an 80. Abby Slabaugh rounded out Grace's scoring with an 89.
On the B team, Olivia Shaw's 87 and Abigail Fishel's 88 paced the squad. Jalee Nunemaker (94), Brittney Klotz (98) and Julia Hildebrand (113) wrapped up the top five.
"We played very well today. I thought we drove the ball as well as any team I've ever watched," said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. "This team is still young, and we've been inconsistent at times, but I'm excited about our potential. I believe we will continue getting better throughout the year."
The Lady Lancers return to the course on Sept. 30 with the Valparaiso Invitational.
