PERU, Ind. - Grace's women's golf team registered an impressive victory on Friday and Saturday at the Rumble at the Rock.
The Lancers topped nine other opponents to win the tournament, powered by three top-10 individual performances.
Grace beat two teams who are currently receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll (Bethel, Huntington). Grace's team total of 628 was tied for the seventh-best 36-hole tournament score in team history.
Brette Hanavan and Camille Short finished tied for runner-up honors in the tournament. Hanavan was steady with a scorecard of 76-77, and Short owned the lowest round in the tournament for the Lancers (78-75) with her second-round 75.
Grace May also finished in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Her total of 159 (79-80) was good for seventh place.
Grace Beerman (82-82) and Trinity Bramer (81-86) completed a solid team outing for the Lancers.
"I'm really pleased with our effort today. It's hard to win any tournament, so we have a lot to be pleased with from this weekend," said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. "We still have room for improvement, and I feel like we are on the right track as our fall continues."
The Lancers' next two tournaments are the Huntington Invitational on Sept. 26 and the Battle at Stonehenge on Sept. 30.
