WINONA LAKE, Ind. - After another stellar week for Grace's women's soccer team, two players combined to win three Player of the Week awards on Monday afternoon.
Jaylin Young was named the NCCAA National Defensive Player of the Week and the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week. Nora Pollock was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
Young helped Grace to a pair of shutouts last week, including an impressive result on the road at No. 5 Cumberlands (now ranked No. 2 in the NAIA). Neither Cumberlands nor Shawnee State attempted a shot on goal against Grace's defense. The Lancers (7-0-2) have eight shutouts in their first nine matches.
Pollock won the league's standout offensive player award for the second time this fall. The freshman provided two goals and two assists during Grace's win over Shawnee State. The current NAIA leader in assists upped her season total to 13.
The No. 23-ranked Lancers begin Crossroads League competition this week, traveling to St. Francis on Wednesday before returning home on Saturday at 7 p.m. versus Huntington.
